What Is the Basketball Experience?

The Basketball Experience (BE) is a creative platform that leverages basketball to promote social inclusion and support secondary school children to become changemakers in their local communities.

Delivered by trained local coaches, the program blends on-court sessions with classroom and light physical activities — building confidence, teamwork, and leadership skills that last well beyond the game.

Over the program's lifetime, roughly 25 paid local coaches have delivered Basketball Experience sessions.

Dream Sports Africa is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing African youth through the transformative power of sports. Founded by Chenfa Dombin, we run sports, leadership, and wellbeing programs in Nigeria and Ghana, with 62,118+ program participations in Nigeria.

Our Story

Founded with a vision to transform young African lives through sports, Dream Sports Africa has grown from a small community initiative to a continent-wide movement. We believe that sports have the unique power to teach life skills, build character, and create opportunities that extend far beyond the playing field. Today, we work with schools, communities, and partners across Africa to bring quality sports programs to youth who need them most.

Meet The Dream Team

Chenfa Dombin — CEO and Founder

Senior strategy, operations, and program leadership professional with nearly 20 years of experience across international development, global health, and nonprofit environments, and a certified yoga and mindfulness practitioner. As founder of Dream Sports Africa, he has designed youth development and wellbeing initiatives in partnership with organizations including the NBA and ExxonMobil.

Castel Dombin — Finance and Administration Manager

A dedicated Finance and Administration Officer with a strong track record in managing financial processes and administrative operations, known for creating efficient systems that keep operations running smoothly.

Jessica Ohaka — Deputy Director

Led and revitalized a program with an annual budget of approximately $100,000, delivering impact to over 20,000 young people across Lagos and Abuja, while pursuing a career as a chartered accountant.

Michael Anejo — Lead Program Consultant

Country Director overseeing programs in Nigeria and Ghana, having helped raise and manage over $4 million for in-school youth development programs partnering with the NBA, ExxonMobil, Shell, and The UPS Foundation.
